With an honors degree
in Electrical Engineering from Dublin City University, Mr. Martin came
to the U.S. and joined Fidelity Investments' Telecommunications Company.
During his three year stay at Fidelity, Mr. Martin distinguished himself
by designing and implementing what became the largest private wide-area
network in the country.
Recruited by Racal
Milgo (Racal DataComm) in 1989 as a Senior Systems Engineer, Mr. Martin
gained extensive experience in network design. Working with clients
such as BankBoston, American Express, and Fidelity Investments, Mr.
Martin quickly became an expert in the design of complex, fully-redundant
networks.
In 1992, Mr. Martin
joined the publishing giant Houghton Mifflin as their Telecommunications
Manager. Mr. Martin was tasked with developing the design and specifications
for their enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure.
Having worked in
various capacities and arenas within the telecommunications and network
design fields, Mr. Martin was able to see the ever increasing need for
a knowledgeable and trustworthy telecommunications consultant in a rapidly
changing industry and economy. In 1994, Mr. Martin's vision of how a
telecommunications consultant should best serve a client and their needs,
evolved into The Cavan Group the leading, independent telecommunications
consulting firm in New England.
